Fertilizers

Systematic tillage and regular addition of fertilizer improves soil fertility and increases crop yields. In order for the additives to give the maximum result, you need to understand their composition, in the characteristics of the soil of a certain area. For every gardener, this process is mandatory and time-consuming. If the dose of additives and their type is incorrectly calculated, then the soil can be greatly damaged and the plants that have already grown can be destroyed.

The entire range of feeding is divided into the following types:

  • Mineral. They contain many nutrients that plants need. They are divided into 2 groups – simple and complex. In the first type, there is only one element, and complex ones, respectively, consist of 2, 3, 4 or more components. They are also classified according to the content of components – potash, nitrogen and phosphorus.
  • Organic. They add various nutrients to the soil, which dissolve quickly, and humus. Its characteristics, structure are improved and the activity of some microorganisms is activated. This type of compost includes poultry manure, manure, wood shavings and sawdust, and green fertilizers.

All mineral additives for the garden have fast-acting characteristics. The rates of their use are calculated based on soil fertility, the requirements of vegetable crops in relation to bait, and the presence of nutrients in the supplement.

Also, there are several other types of fertilizers – bacterial and micronutrient fertilizers. The first group includes ground baits that increase the fertile characteristics of the soil and transform nitrogen into the form necessary for plants. The second group includes products containing iron, copper, manganese, zinc, molybdenum, boron, etc. They help eliminate fungal problems. Boric and manganese mixtures and ferrous sulfate are common dressings in this class. They are used for conifers and ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs.

Each supplement is suitable for a specific plant type, but there are versatile options. They are also categorized by application. Fertilizers of this class cannot be used on completely different plants. If it is indicated that they are intended for indoor plants, then they contain useful elements necessary for this particular type of flower. When prescribing a product “from pests”, it can be applied to all plants in the garden in the appropriate period and under certain conditions.

All types of fertilizers are suitable for different plant growth processes. Many have come across early ripening of cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, and other vegetables in the markets. Such products attract attention due to their large size, bright color, and early ripening. This is not surprising, because, during planting and growing, nitrogen is added to the vegetables, from which such a result appears.

For fruit and berry plants, vegetables, or lawns, you need to calculate a certain amount of fertilizer and add it when planting, before flowering, during fruiting, before autumn, and wintering. In each of these periods, there should be different types of baits and with different dosages.

Many gardeners determine the dosage “by eye”, and may give the plants too many additives, which then leads to decay and disease of flowers, vegetables, and trees. On a bucket of 10 liters, it is worth counting on organic fertilizers in such a proportion – humus – 8, wood ash – 5, fresh mullein – 9 kg, bird droppings – 5, peat – 5. It all depends on how strong the bait is and what effect it has maybe. When measuring the required volume with faceted glasses, it should be borne in mind that up to 10 matchboxes of fertilizer are placed in it.

It is also worth calculating mineral types of additives in accordance with the concentration of the active substance in the volume used. Before using them, you need to calculate the dose again for a specific plant species and minerals. At different stages of growth and ripening of fruits, plants need to be fed with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. They activate growth, improve their structure and enrich the land. They must be used strictly according to the method of application on the package or on the advice of consultants.
